12 changes · City, Cold, Map, Places
  1. Bad deeds have a price

If the Hearth dislikes you, rent and Heat Credit prices go up and your vote counts half. If it shuns you, no new home, no letters, no vote and nothing free. Keep killing its people after that and you are Wanted: on the map for everyone, and the city's sentries shoot you inside the wall.

  2. The cold eats your food

Out in the deep cold you get hungry faster. Warm food holds it off for a while, and a hot meal at the Dining Hall's tables keeps you well fed for half an hour.

  3. The Watch has faces

Each guard has their own voice now, and you can ask them what's going on, whether you're in trouble, or why they keep walking behind you.

  4. Everyone out there is someone

The people at the waystations, harbours, pits and the Den each talk in their own voice now, with more to say about their work and their lives.

  5. Ready for a full city

Votes on laws last four real hours, so players in every time zone can take part. The Council changes with who has fed the Furnace lately. More players online bring more world events. The city's people no longer freeze in place when someone talks to them, and a home whose renter has been gone two days goes back to the landlady.

  6. Steadier server

A rare error could freeze the Furnace, the storms or the city's people until a restart; now the rest keeps running. Rebuilding the city and the lights at dusk no longer make everyone rubber-band.

  7. Your things are safer

Homes keep their renters' things through restarts, named items and key codes survive, and the server no longer evicts everyone after being down for a while.

  8. Fair trades

Donations pay for what the city can actually use (metal has a limit, worn tools aren't taken), a normal heavy fuse no longer counts as a Steam Core, and feeding the Furnace by hand counts like the store box.

  9. People and votes

Sleeping citizens can't be looted, a trader you talked to never stays frozen, old ballots can't be cast again, and wedding gifts come after the vows.

  10. Tidier effects

The list of effects by your health shows what is really warming you (a meal, tea, a roof); the body's hidden limits appear only when they are holding you back.

  11. Cleaner map

The Deep Frost circles are gone from the map.

  12. Fewer surprises

Giving up a home asks twice, rent owed is shown at the landlady, contract items are taken back when you drop a job, and Expedition Records can be read.
